Reminder of the conditions for the optimal functioning of the algorithm
- A minimum of about 50 questions.
- Questions well distributed among the different topics of the program
- Questions well distributed among the different difficulty levels
- Accepted activity types: Questions with feedback (Single choice, multiple choice, image hotspot, open question).
- A minimum of about 50 participants.
💡 Good to know - Start from a regular program and convert it to Adaptive Reinforcement mode
Instead of creating a new program, you can start from an existing program, and select the Adaptive Reinforcement mode. This way, all questions with feedback will be copied into the question bank. See the steps below for more details.
In this article, we describe the 3 steps to create and deploy an adaptive reinforcement program: 1) create the program, 2) create the question bank, 3) deploy the program in a group.
Step 1 - Create the program
On the Studio main page, click the +Create a program button.
A series of steps will help you configure your new program. Since they are largely the same as for a regular program, we will only provide details for the elements specific to adaptive programs. For all details, see the article Create and configure a program
Step 1 of 8: What is the name of your program?
Step 2 of 8: What type of program do you want to create? Select Adaptive Reinforcement.
Step 3 of 8: On what basis do you want to build your program?
- From scratch: you skip step 4 of 8 and proceed to step 5.
- From an existing program: you can select any program and only the questions with feedback will be copied into this new adaptive program (because other types of activities are not supported).
- If from an existing program:
Step 4 : select the content to copy (you can preview the content if needed). - From AI : for more information see B12+: Generate a Program from Content
Step 5 of 8: What are the objectives of the program?
Step 6 of 8: What is the target audience of the program?
Step 7 of 8: What will your program focus on? Select your knowledge topics. These are very important for the algorithm's performance. You will not be able to deploy your program if some questions do not have a knowledge topic.
Final step: The last configuration elements are identified here. Everything can be modified later in your program once it is created.
The Adaptive Reinforcement mode contains some key elements to configure that are specific to this mode.
-
Performance to achieve (%): this determines the green limit for the gauges as with regular programs. But also, it is the threshold to reach to complete the program. If the performance to achieve is 80%, the participant must have 80% correct answers for easy questions, 80% correct answers for medium questions, and 80% correct answers for difficult questions to complete the program. (In addition to having seen all questions at least once).
-
Number of activities per series: this indicates the number of questions for each sequence.
-
Schedule notifications: Notifications are managed in the program settings, since it is not possible to create sequences in the Studio in Adaptive Reinforcement mode.
Indicate here the time at which you want the initial notification to be sent, and add late notifications if needed.
The other configuration elements are the same as for regular programs.
See the article Create and configure a program for more details.
Step 2 - Create the question bank
Then create your question bank in the Activities tab.
🚩Make sure to properly identify your knowledge topics and difficulty levels for each question.
No sequence is created in the studio since sequences will be built in a personalized way for each learner.
When the program configuration is complete and all questions are entered into the activity bank, you are ready to deploy the program.
Step 3 - Deploy the program in a group
Create your group and select the program to add to your group as with regular programs. For more details, see Create a group and Assign a program to a group.
- For this group, identify on which day(s) of the week the sequences will be sent to all learners. This schedule will be maintained throughout the program.
- Select the start date of the program.
- Optional: Select an end date at which the program will be completed, regardless of whether the person has reached the performance threshold or not.
The maximum end date is optional. It can be useful in cases where you want to prevent learners from having to continue completing sequences for too long if their results are not yet at the expected threshold level. In this case, the program will be considered completed in the statistics, but you may see a final score lower than the target threshold.
Good to know - Learner view
- Sequences will unlock progressively for learners.
- Not knowing exactly when they will finish their program, upcoming sequences are not displayed.
- The next sequence will only be scheduled when the previous sequence is completed.
- It is therefore important to set reminder notifications on sequences, because if they are not completed, the following notifications and sequences are not activated in the participant’s program.
