A tagging system is available in B12 to help you classify and sort different items.
You can apply one or more labels to the following items:
- A program
- A group
- An activity
- A case study
- A survey
- A skill
- A folder or file in the Library
Here are the general principles governing the B12 labels:
- Labels are managed by each B12 platform (each individual B12 organization). There are no default labels in B12.
- All labels on your platform are managed globally and are accessible by all designers and administrators. There are no categories of labels (e.g., program tags versus group tags).
Using labels to sort and filter table items
Labels are used in several places to filter and sort items displayed in B12's interface:
- In the list of Programs
- In the list of Groups
- In the list of Activities
- In the list of practice Cases
- In the list of Skills
- In the B12 Library (folder or file)
You may use the labels to sort and filter the lists, according to the parameters that will be most useful to you.
Note that the Labels column is placed by default towards the right of the list, but you can move it wherever it will be most useful to you on the Studio's home page.
Using Labels for dashboard display
Labels also allow the filtering of dashboard items.
- Activity filters allow isolating results of questions containing one or more tags.
- Survey filters allow displaying only certain surveys in the list under the Surveys tab.
- The same applies for case studies and skills.
💡 B12 Tip:
Before creating labels, discuss as a team how they might be useful in different contexts. Consider whether a common structure could help all designers work more efficiently.
If labels aren’t useful in your context, avoid creating unnecessary work by adding them systematically.
⚠ Labels are not the same as knowledge topics—don’t confuse the two. See more details on the matter here: Knowledge Topics
Adding a Label to an item
1. Click in the Labels field when the menu is available where you are in B12.
2. Select the desired label from the list. Use dynamic search if needed to find the label in the list.
Note that you can add more than one label to an item.
Creating a new Label
You can create a tag from the Label tool in the left menu of B12.
- Click on the + button next to the search bar.
- Enter the label name.
The tag will then be available in all Tag fields (in programs, activities, groups, etc.).
You can also create a new label directly within a label menu bar:
1. Enter the name of the label in the field.
2. Press the Enter key or click on Add "to review".
When you create a new label this way, it will then be available in the Label management tool (left menu of B12) and available for all other designers as well.
Editing or deleting a Label
To remove a label from an item (activity, program, group, etc.), simply click on the X button on the label.
To edit the label or delete one from the global B12 list:
1. Use the Label tool in the left menu.
2. Click on the three dots at the end of the line.
3. Edit or delete the label.
🚩 The change or deletion will be applied to all items on the B12 platform using this label.
