An activity is presented to the learner in the form of a web page. This activity can contain content to read, videos to watch, quiz questions, survey questions, etc.
Here is a description of the activities that can be created in B12. They are organized into 4 categories.
Questions with Feedback
- Single answer: Only one possible answer.
- Multiple answers: Several possible answers.
- Open question: Text entry without answer choices. The artificial intelligence behind the grading engine can recognize a term or expression even if it is not perfectly written as the correct answer.
- Image hotspot: Allows positioning an image and indicating one or more areas to identify.
💡For more details see the article Questions with Feedback Activities.
Content
- Text and media: allows you to design your content presentations of all kinds – texts, diagrams, images, videos, downloadable documents, image carousels.
💡For more details see the article Text and Media Activities.
Questionnaires
- Surveys: Allows creating a questionnaire in the form of a survey (no question correction, no feedback associated with answers). It is a data collection or a "reflection" type activity.
- Logbook: In a format similar to the survey. The logbook has the particularity that it can be added in multiple sequences, and at each instance the learner can read what they have written to date, and modify or enhance it.
💡For more details see the article Questionnaire Activities - Surveys and Logbook.
Activities
- Practice: These activities allow measuring the application of learning through observation forms linked to a Practical Case. Each case contains instructions and a series of performance criteria. Three modes are possible: Self-assessment, Peer evaluation (another learner in my group), as well as evaluation by a trainer or manager. To create a practice activity, you must first have created a Practical Case.
💡For more details see the article Practice Activities.
To create an activity
You can create the activities for your program in two ways, depending on what will be effective for you (and of course you can use both modes together in a program).
1. Create all activities without worrying about the sequence structure, by creating them directly in the Activities tab of the Studio.
2. Create activities as you go along in your sequences, from the Structure tab.
Regardless of the chosen mode, the steps will be the same:
- Click on Create an activity
- Select the desired activity type in the side panel
- Start writing!
- If along the way you decide to change the activity type, you can use the menu presented at the top of the screen, and depending on the type of change some of the created content will be preserved (title, answer choices, etc.).
To modify an existing activity: click on the activity to reopen the editing page.
Activities in sequences vs activities in the Activities tab
All created activities are listed in the Activities tab. Note, these are not copies of the activities in the sequences, but the same activities that are listed here for a better overview.
🚩 If you modify an activity in the Activities tab, the activity in the sequence will be modified, and vice versa.
You cannot delete an activity from the Structure. You can only remove it from the sequence, and it will still be available in the Activities tab. If you really want to delete the activity, you must do so from the Activities tab.
From the Activities tab: Preview, Duplicate and Delete
By clicking on the three dots at the end of the activity, you can:
- View a preview of the activity without opening it in edit mode
- Duplicate the activity: either in the current program, or in another program.
- Delete the activity: it will be removed from all sequences where it is used. (No impact on duplicated copies, in the current program or in another program.)
Navigating between activities
Once an activity is open in edit mode, you can navigate to the next activity using the arrows in the upper right corner of the screen. If you are in the Structure, you will navigate to the next activity in the sequence. If you are in the Activity tab, you will navigate to the next activity in the list.
